Essay 2: The Democratic Movement

Two of the earliest leaders of the democratic world movement predicted unequivocally that eventually it would result in worldwide freedom.

Thomas Jefferson said:

In short, the flames kindled on the Fourth of July 1776, have spread over too much of the globe to be extinguished by the feeble engines of despotism; on the contrary, they will consume those engines and all who work them.
~ September 12, 1821

Abraham Lincoln said:

Of our political revolution of '76 we are all justly proud...in it was the germ which has agitated and still is to grow and expand into the universal liberty of mankind.
~ February 22, 1842

When God decided to establish democracy in America He played a prominent role in the making of our Declaration of Independence. Our Declaration recognizes a fact that He wanted made known to all the world; He wanted the entire world to know that He had created us all with equal rights. That principle, the democratic principle, is important in the development of history because it is a "stumbling block for all future tyrants" as Lincoln said. It is the basic principle of democracy, "always approximated but never perfectly attained" according to Lincoln.

God saw to it that the democratic principle of equal rights was embedded in our Declaration because He knew the democratic principle was an effective and inspirational organizing principle and it would have widespread appeal and support throughout the world. He wanted democracy to become a large and powerful force in the world. He knew what was coming in the centuries ahead. He wanted democracy to "grow and expand" into the universal liberty of mankind" as Lincoln said it would. He wanted the "engines of despotism" to be "consumed... and all who work them" as Jefferson said they would be. Instead of anti-democratic forces taking over the world country by country, God's plan called for the democratic movement to spread throughout the world, country by country, and so it has.

The democratic world movement is an instrument of God's will. It is an extremely important part of His plan for the human race.

Lucifer's plan of attack in the last century was to focus on countries that were weak and struggling to establish their freedom. There are several well known historical examples of this from the last century.

In Germany in the 1930s the Nazi's overthrew the Weimar Republic. The people of Germany were trying to establish a democratic form of government through the Weimar Republic. Elections were held, a national deliberative assembly was functioning when Hitler (who had become Chancellor) and his thugs took over the assembly and Hitler informed the nation that laws would no longer be made by the assembly but instead by him. And that was the end of democracy in Germany.

In 1917, in Russia, after the abdication of Czar Nicolas, a national deliberative assembly, the Duma, was in the process of holding sessions and forming a provisional government. Lenin sent an armed contingent of Reds to the Duma and closed it down and the Bolsheviks took absolute power in Russia - and that was the end of democracy in Russia.

In Japan in the 1930s the militarists took power by the outright assassination of prominent members of the Diet, which was the Japanese peoples' ongoing attempt to establish a deliberative assembly to represent and govern them. Once again democracy was crushed.

Lucifer's objective in all three of the foregoing situations was to prevent democracy from being established in each of those countries. He did that by applying his usual tactics of helping anti-democratists gain power. Actually his objective was twofold: to prevent the democratic world movement from moving forward in those countries and then to develop their military might and attack us as they did in World War II and again in the Cold War.

World War II, the Cold War, the Communist invasions in both South Korea and South Vietnam were all part of Lucifer's continuing war to defeat democracy and the democratic world movement. Lucifer continually attacks us through his minions. He comes at us through them.

The wars now in Iraq and Afghanistan and Pakistan are efforts by his present day anti-democratic henchmen to create chaos, to destabilize and terrorize, all for the purpose of preventing democracy from taking root in those countries. Ultimately our enemies' goal in those countries is to destroy democracy and replace it with their own dictatorial system. Lucifer has been the primary cause of all these conflicts, both past and present. But now something has occurred that is very important in our conflict with Lucifer.

Lucifer's present day henchmen, al Qaeda, the Taliban and other terrorist groups, while they have the power to damage the populations of democratic nations, they do not have the power to destroy the democratic world movement. Lucifer no longer has the power to field large multi-national military forces to attack democratic nations. Democracy is now established in so many nations that the movement is irreversible. They are not going to be able to disrupt God's plan for the human race. That part of God's plan is now complete. The good news is this: Lucifer has been defeated in his attempts to conquer the world and he knows it.

But the democratic world movement has done more than just prevent Lucifer and his cohorts from conquering the world. It has forced Lucifer back, country by country, to the time in human history when he faces banishment from the earth. Only banishment will bring about the final and complete defeat of Lucifer. God's plan for the human race provides that eventually Lucifer will be banished back to the place from whence he came. When he goes, the temptation to commit evil will leave with him because he is the only source of temptation to commit evil.

The democratic world movement is a very important part of God's plan because it has gradually and finally brought about the historical conditions for Lucifer's banishment to actually take place.
